How To Make Spicy Garlic Shrimp

Spicy Garlic Shrimp is an easy meal that combines shrimp, garlic and chile flakes in a delicious flavor explosion. Serve with cauliflower rice for a super healthy meal. This dish is very quick to make as well.

Ingredients For Spicy Garlic Shrimp:
- 1 lb Large Shrimp
- Salt and Pepper
- 1 Tbls Olive Oil
- 3 Cloves Garlic
- Zest and Juice From 1 Lemon
- 1/2 tsp Chile Flakes
- 1 Tbls Chopped Parsley
- 1 Tbls Chopped Cilantro
Season the Shrimp
We’ll start with a liberal sprinkling of salt and pepper on both sides of the shrimp. You can be generous with this as it will provide good flavor.
Cook the Shrimp
Now we’ll heat a little olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. When the oil is hot we’ll put in our shrimp.
Cook Both Sides
Our shrimp will cook very quickly so we’ll just give them about 30 seconds on the first side and then flip them over. Then we can add our other ingredients while the second side cooks.
Crush The Garlic
Now we’ll crush the garlic and add it to the pan. We use a garlic twister which grinds it quite well without wasting much. You can use more garlic than 3 cloves if you want.
Lemon Zest
After adding the garlic we’ll add our lemon zest. We want all the zest of the whole lemon. We use a microplane and run it over the lemon so the zest stays in the trough of the microplane.
Lemon Juice
Next we squeeze in the juice from our lemon.
Chile Flakes
The next ingredient we add is chile flakes. This is where you can adjust the heat of your dish by adding more or less chile flakes. The amount specified in this recipe gives the dish just a little heat.
Parsley and Cilantro
The last ingredient we’ll add is some fresh green herbs to brighten the flavor. We like to use a combination of parsley and cilantro. You can use either one by itself or make up your own herb combination. This adds so much to the color and flavor of this simple dish.
Stir
Finally we will give this a quick stir and remove it from the heat. We don’t want to overcook the shrimp!
Plating
We like to serve this shrimp on cauliflower rice. You can make this easily by steaming the cauliflower and then just using a potato masher to rice it. We also like a nice bright side dish like cherry tomatoes.

- Salt and Pepper
- 1 Tbls Olive Oil
- 3 Cloves Garlic, chopped
- Zest and Juice From 1 Lemon
- 1/2 tsp Chile Flakes
- 1 Tbls Chopped Parsley
- 1 Tbls Chopped Cilantro
Instructions
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over both sides of the shrimp
- Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot add the shrimp to the pan. Cook for 30 seconds and then turn the shrimp over.
- Add the garlic, lemon juice, lemon zest, chile flakes, parsley and cilantro. Stir well and remove the pan from the heat.
Notes
You can use any herbs you like for this. You could use just parsley or just cilantro.
